Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill

A historic neighborhood just three miles southeast of Washington D.C.

Welcome to Capitol Hill

A walkable and lively community with historic architecture.

Popular restaurants, historic architecture, and charming parks make Capitol Hill one of D.C.’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Capitol Hill is a historic neighborhood just three miles southeast of Washington D.C. and roughly four miles from the White House. It is the largest neighborhood in the nation's capital. Capitol Hill is famously known for the United States Capitol, Stanton Park, Garfield Park, Fall Festival on Barracks Row, and the Library of Congress

Complemented by the surrounding areas of East End, Washington Navy Yard, Lincoln Park, H Street Corridor, and Capitol Riverfront– this is a very lively area. Bonuses of the Capitol Hill area include highly desired real estate, walkability, great restaurants and shopping at Union Station, and upbeat energy. Locals also have access to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and can use Capital Bikeshare to rent a bike, providing easy access to all D.C. has to offer.

You can find a variety of great restaurants and fun local activities in the upscale neighborhood of Capitol Hill. Residents speak highly of Ambar, Ted’s Bulletin, Rose’s Luxury, Little Pearl, Eastern Market, and Charlie Palmer Steak. Other local favorites in Capitol Hill are the H Street Corridor, Barracks Row/Eastern Market, and Navy Yard.

In the H Street Corridor, you can find the Atlas Performing Arts Center, The Escape Lounge, Gallery O on H, H Street Country Club (not to be confused with a golf course), and Rock & Roll Hotel. In the Barracks Row/Eastern Market area, the town favorites include the Eastern Market Pottery, Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital, and The Miracle Theatre

In the Navy Yard, you find crowd-pleasers such as the Ballpark Boathouse, Capitol Riverfront Outdoor Movie Series, Nationals Park, Trapeze School New York, and the Washington Navy Yard Tour

While these popular sights inspire awe, the Hill’s other streets are filled with beautiful apartments and row houses. Capitol Hill’s real estate has a wonderful variety of architectural styles. Many Capitol Hill residents have a strong sense of history and identity. In the Capitol Hill area, you can expect an equal balance of relaxation and ‘life-on-the-go’, as well as continual additions to the real estate market.

The sought-after Capitol Hill Cluster Schools (CHCS) is an elite system of schools, including Peabody Elementary School, creating a PK3-8th grade learning environment where students thrive emotionally, academically, and socially.
